LOW BAND ANTENNA
FULL SIZE WHIP CUTTING CHART
I tried to find a low band ball and spring antenna cutting chart on the web, and couldn't. So here it is. Yes, I know, 468 divided by the frequency divided by 2 gives a quarter wavelength, but this chart helps the non-technical people and those of us who want to check our math. Best practice is to cut a little long, check for reflected power, cut off little bits until the reflected power (VSWR) is as low as possible.
This is the chart found in most RCA 1960's two-way radio manuals. The chart on the left refers partially to whip length when using the little RCA loading coils, which, chances are, you won't have, so ignore those curves.
